Pritzker Calls Out Oil Companies Over High Gas Prices in Illinois

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is taking aim at oil companies in his state, calling on their CEOs to return profits to consumers and provide transparency around pricing and operations.

In a letter to the CEOs of seven major oil companies, Pritzker expressed frustration over the high gas prices Illinois drivers are paying, which have risen significantly since last year. According to AAA, the average price for regular unleaded in Illinois was $4.30 per gallon on Thursday, up from $3.42 one year ago.

Pritzker pointed out that the oil companies' record profits are partly due to President Donald Trump's war with Iran, and he is demanding answers on why consumers are not seeing any benefit from these increased earnings.
