Prysmian, Aurubis Secure Long-Term Copper Supply Chain Deal
Prysmian and Aurubis have solidified their decades-long partnership with a long-term copper wire rod agreement, strengthening Europe's copper supply chain. This landmark deal comes at a time when global copper demand is on the rise due to investments in electricity grids, renewable energy, electric mobility, data centers, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and broader industrial electrification.
The agreement aims to provide greater visibility and security for one of the key materials required across Europe's electrification and digital infrastructure. Prysmian, one of the world's largest copper wire rod buyers, expects this deal to support dependable supply while improving access to increasingly sustainable copper products for customers across key markets.
Aurubis, Europe's largest vertically integrated low-carbon copper rod producer, brings significant production capacity, recycling expertise, and geographical flexibility to the partnership. The company currently produces copper wire rod containing approximately 36% recycled material, with a carbon footprint significantly below the global industry average for comparable products.
