Pump Prices Ease in 32 States Amid Ongoing Conflict in Middle East

Gas prices have eased in 32 states, including Oregon, where prices dipped four cents to $5.06 per gallon this week.

The national average for regular gasoline also declined two cents to $4.46 a gallon, but remains at its highest price ever for this time of year due to ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

According to Marie Dodds, public affairs director for AAA Oregon/Idaho, drivers are finding some relief at the pumps, but prices remain elevated due to volatility in crude oil markets and global geopolitical tensions.

Crude oil prices have ranged between $68 and nearly $113 per barrel since the conflict with Iran began, impacting pump prices as every $1 increase in crude leads to a 2.4- to 2.5-cent increase in gasoline costs.
