Gas prices have risen due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine. According to recent data, gas and diesel prices are up in all but seven states this week, with the national average for regular gasoline increasing by three cents to $4.10 a gallon.

The Oregon average gains six cents to $4.77 a gallon, making it the second-highest price ever for this time of year. The previous high was reached in 2022, when prices peaked at $3.88 on August 25.

Elevated crude oil prices are largely responsible for the increase in pump prices. Crude oil prices have been above $80 since August 10, with the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine also impacting global oil supplies.
