Punjab Gov't Steps Up Measures for Timely Paddy Harvesting Amid Record Crop Yields
The Punjab government is taking steps to ensure timely harvesting of paddy and wheat crops in the province, after it was reported that over 6.7 million acres have been cultivated with paddy during the current season.
According to Secretary Agriculture Punjab Shakeel Ahmad Mian, measures are being taken to promote the use of modern harvesters, such as Kubota, to ensure the timely completion of the paddy harvesting process.
The secretary also directed officials to provide farmers with technical guidance on paddy harvesting and ensure the safe use of agricultural pesticides during the pre-harvest interval (PHI).
In addition, the government is promoting the use of super seeders for wheat cultivation after paddy harvesting, which would help discourage crop residue burning and facilitate timely wheat cultivation.
