Punjab Seeks 1 Million Tonnes of Wheat from Federal Government

The Punjab government in Pakistan has requested an additional 800,000 metric tonnes of wheat from the federal government to stabilize market supplies and prices. This request comes after approval from the provincial cabinet, which will retain its existing allocation of 200,000 metric tonnes of wheat from the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO). Officials stated that PASSCO already holds 200,000 metric tonnes of wheat allocated for Punjab.

The provincial government aims to ensure sufficient wheat availability, prevent supply shortages, and help stabilize prices across the province. If approved, the total allocation for Punjab will reach 1 million metric tonnes. The move is aimed at maintaining market stability and preventing price fluctuations.
