Punjab Sets Wheat Release Price at Rs3,800 Per 40 Kilograms Amid Procurement Drive

The Punjab government has set the wheat release price at Rs3,800 per 40 kilograms to ensure uninterrupted supply of wheat and flour across the province. This decision was made by the provincial cabinet on August 5, as part of measures to prevent shortages and market disruptions.

The federal government had directed Punjab to procure wheat from the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO), with a target of 300,000 metric tons immediately available. The province has already procured 200,000 metric tons from PASSCO at the procurement price of Rs4,150 per 40kg.

The initiative aims to maintain a steady supply of wheat and flour in Punjab, which will help keep flour prices stable. This move is also in line with the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) decision of January 28, 2026.
