Punjab's wheat stocks are sufficient to meet the province's consumption needs until the next harvest, thanks to a record-breaking crop this year.

The Punjab Food Department announced that the state produced over 22 million metric tonnes of wheat, exceeding its annual consumption requirement by approximately 5.5 million metric tonnes.

DG Amjad Hafeez stated that the release of wheat from PASSCO to flour mills has begun under the government's strategy to ensure uninterrupted flour production and maintain market stability.

The initiative aims to stabilise flour prices, support the availability of flour at government-notified rates, and establish a price benchmark in the market, according to Hafeez.
