Qatar LNG Expansion Delayed to 2027 Amid Shipping Disruptions
Qatar's Energy Minister Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi announced that the country expects its massive liquefied natural gas (LNG) expansion to start producing in 2027. The first production train at North Field East, the initial phase of the LNG expansion, is set to come online in the first half of next year.
This news comes as shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have slowed projects across Qatar's economy, affecting various sectors. The delay was previously anticipated for 2026, but Al-Kaabi stated that production will begin in 2027 instead.
