Qatar LNG Tanker Struck in Hormuz Amid Ongoing Security Concerns
A Qatari LNG tanker has been struck by an unidentified projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, marking the second such incident in less than a month.
The GasLog Shanghai, a Monaco-based LNG shipping company that manages vessels for QatarEnergy and other major gas producers, was hit while leaving the strait. All crew members are safe, but the cargo's ownership remains unclear.
This latest attack has raised concerns about the safety of shipping in the region, with security consultancies Vanguard Tech and Marisks identifying the vessel as the GasLog Shanghai.
The incident is a significant setback for QatarEnergy, which operates under force majeure on some contracts due to earlier disruptions. The company's Ras Laffan industrial complex was damaged in Iranian attacks in March, disrupting production and shipping.
