Qatar, once the world's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter, is now in talks to buy LNG from the US. The move comes as a result of disrupted trade routes due to the ongoing West Asia war.

The country had planned to double production at the Ras Laffan plant, the world's largest LNG facility. However, with exports plummeting by 96%, Qatar is looking to secure alternative supplies.

Bloomberg reported that discussions are underway for long-term agreements to import LNG from the US, marking a significant shift in Qatar's energy strategy.
