QatarEnergy Extends Force Majeure on Gas Deliveries to Italy
QatarEnergy has extended its force majeure on gas deliveries to Italy until early December 2026, citing ongoing disruptions. The company informed Edison, a leading energy provider in Italy, that it will be unable to deliver an additional 6 LNG cargoes scheduled for the Adriatic LNG receiving terminal.
This extension brings the total number of affected LNG cargoes to 35, representing around 4.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas. As a result, Edison has been forced to replace these volumes with alternative sources, securing 23 LNG cargoes corresponding to approximately 2.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
The force majeure period now spans from the beginning of April to early December 2026, impacting Edison's long-term contract with QatarEnergy for the supply of 6.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year to Italy.
