QatarEnergy Extends LNG Force Majeure for Five More Italy Cargoes Amid Strait of Hormuz Disruptions
QatarEnergy has extended its force majeure on liquefied natural gas deliveries to Italy through early November, impacting five additional cargoes due to shipping disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz. The extension brings the total number of affected Edison cargoes to 29, covering about 3.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
Edison, an Italian utility that receives Qatari LNG at the Adriatic LNG terminal, has already replaced 21 of the affected cargoes, totaling about 2 billion cubic meters of gas. The company has stated it can continue meeting its commercial commitments to customers.
The long-term contract between Edison and QatarEnergy covers 6.4 billion cubic meters of gas annually for Italy over 25 years.
