QatarEnergy LNG Tanker Navigates Strait of Hormuz After July Incident

A QatarEnergy-controlled liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker has made its way out of the Strait of Hormuz, marking a significant movement in the tanker sector. This departure comes after a notable incident involving the Al Rekayyat in July.

The tanker, Al Areesh, was loaded with cargo at Qatar's Ras Laffan terminal on July 4-6 and set sail on July 29, with an expected arrival date of July 31 at Port Qasim, Pakistan. According to Kpler and LSEG data, this journey represents the first LNG tanker exit from the Strait since the incident.

The Strait has seen increased tanker traffic in recent times, with ongoing activities visualized through ship-tracking data. This is also reflected in coinciding developments in the Bab el-Mandeb strait, where commodity ship movements have fluctuated.

An analyst from Vortexa noted that regional security risks are driving shifting strategies among carriers in response to geopolitical tensions in the region.
