Qatari LNG Tanker Navigates Hormuz Amid Ongoing Conflict
A second Qatari liquefied natural gas tanker is making its way through the Strait of Hormuz to Pakistan, following in the footsteps of a previous cargo that successfully navigated the waterway just days earlier. The Mihzem vessel, with a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters, departed from Ras Laffan and is heading towards Port Qasim in Pakistan, where it's expected to arrive on May 12.
This marks the second time a Qatari LNG tanker has successfully passed through Hormuz since the start of the Iran war. The first tanker, Al Kharaitiyat, made its way through the strait on Saturday via an Iranian-approved northern route and arrived safely on Sunday.
The shipment is part of a government-to-government deal between Qatar and Pakistan, with two more tankers carrying Qatari LNG expected to head to Pakistan in the coming days. Iran has approved the shipments to help build confidence with Qatar and Pakistan, which are working together to address their gas shortage.
