Qatari LNG Tanker Navigates Strait of Hormuz Amid Ongoing Tensions

A liquefied natural gas tanker originating from Qatar has navigated through the Strait of Hormuz and is now bound for Pakistan, according to Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik.

The Bermuda-registered Shandong Redwood is set to arrive at Port Qasim in Karachi on September 23rd, with a draft measuring 11.5 meters and traveling at a speed of 7 knots.

This marks the tenth LNG shipment Pakistan has obtained since April, with one arriving earlier this month, and it will help sustain approximately 5,000 megawatts of gas-fired power production.

Pakistan depends significantly on Qatari LNG to operate its electricity grid, particularly during peak demand periods when four to five shipments are required monthly.
