Qatari Tanker Stranded After Being Hit by Projectile in Strait of Hormuz

A Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker, Al Rekayyat, remains stranded off Oman's coast after being hit by a projectile on Tuesday.

The ship was carrying LNG and is located near the entrance of the Strait of Hormuz, where four oil and gas tankers have turned back due to safety concerns in recent days.

Nakilat, owner of the Al Rekayyat tanker, has not commented on the incident. Qatar's foreign ministry blamed Iran for the attack, summoning the deputy Iranian ambassador to protest.

The U.S. Navy raised the threat level to transit the strait to 'severe' after the attacks, with the U.N.'s International Maritime Organization (IMO) urging parties to allow the evacuation of stranded ships.
