Qatar's LNG Exports Resume Through Strait of Hormuz
A liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier from Qatar has resumed sailing through the Strait of Hormuz, signaling a potential resumption of Qatari LNG exports that were halted after an attack on one of its tankers in late July.
The vessel Al Maruna was observed sailing in the Gulf of Oman on September 8, bound for Pakistan's Port Qasim with an expected arrival on September 10. According to Bloomberg, several other Qatari carriers without LNG cargo have also been seen returning to the Persian Gulf, indicating that Qatar may restart LNG shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
This development is significant as Qatar accounted for roughly one-fifth of global LNG export volumes before the strait was blocked by the Iran war in February. The resumption of Qatari exports could alleviate concerns about supply disruptions and stabilize LNG prices, which remain elevated due to ongoing worries about supply chain disruptions.
