Qatar's LNG Exports Through Hormuz Resume After July Attack

A Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker has successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz for the first time since July, according to Bloomberg. The Al Marrouna vessel, which was loaded with cargo in Qatar early last month, is now headed towards Pakistan's Port Qasim, where it could arrive as early as Thursday.

The tanker kept its transponder active while crossing the waterway, providing a visible indication that the cargo had successfully passed through. This shipment follows the return of several empty Qatari LNG tankers to the Persian Gulf, which has raised expectations that Qatar may begin restoring exports through the route.

Qatar had largely halted LNG shipments through Hormuz after one of its tankers was attacked in late July. The country accounted for about one-fifth of global LNG exports before the conflict, making disruptions to its shipments significant for international gas markets.
