Queensland Awards Exploration Acreage for Petroleum, Gas, Critical Minerals
The Queensland government has awarded new exploration acreage for various resources across regional Queensland. The move aims to unlock new supply and strengthen domestic energy security.
Four key petroleum and gas tenders have been awarded in the highly prospective Taroom Trough, with successful tenderers including Denison Gas in partnership with OGT Energy, Shell QGC, and a joint venture comprising Omega TN, Tri-Star Stonecroft, and Beach Energy Queensland.
In addition to natural gas expansion, the state is advancing its critical minerals sector. Idemitsu Australia has been appointed preferred tenderer for two vanadium exploration blocks covering 269 square kilometres northeast of Julia Creek in the North West Minerals Province.
Premier David Crisafulli stated that providing a stable regulatory framework will restore investor confidence and unlock Queensland's resource potential. He added, 'These are the catalytic moments in our history that will propel Queensland into a new era of opportunity.'
