Rahman Urges Focus on Rebuilding Bangladesh Amid Gas Crisis

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman called on Bangladeshis to focus on rebuilding their country after two years since the July Mass Uprising, instead of getting bogged down in protests. He assured that his government is working hard to resolve the ongoing gas and electricity crisis through both short-term and long-term measures.

Rahman spoke at a discussion marking the 2nd anniversary of the uprising, where he also reaffirmed the government's commitment to fulfilling the aspirations for which people had struggled and sacrificed. He acknowledged that the country is facing hardships due to ongoing gas and electricity shortages, but emphasized that the government is not making excuses.

The Prime Minister detailed a series of initiatives to increase gas supply and restore electricity generation disrupted by years of neglect in the sector. He announced plans to import natural gas from Myanmar and Malaysia's state-owned energy company Petronas to ease the shortage.
