Rapeseed Exports Surge Through Romania
Romania's rapeseed exports have surged in recent times due to high yields and supply problems from other Black Sea regions, according to a market analyst. Olena Hesova of UkrAgroConsult noted that shipments through Constanta port have reached record levels, with the demand geography expanding as Turkey returns to purchasing rapeseed.
This development solidifies Constanta's position as a regional hub for oilseeds and oils from the Black Sea-Danube region. Some trade flows may persist even after Ukrainian exports resume if stable supply chains are established, Hesova predicts.
In contrast to the current season's strong performance, the 2027 rapeseed harvest is facing uncertain prospects due to soil moisture deficits in several countries within the Black Sea-Danube region. Weather conditions may limit area expansion despite attractive crop economics and high demand.
