Syrian Government Temporarily Raises Fuel Prices Amid Global Cost Pressures
The Syrian Ministry of Energy has announced a temporary increase in fuel prices, effective from Sunday. The price hike is due to rising global costs for securing petroleum products and a reduction in local refining capacity at the Banias refinery.
The new prices are as follows: 95-octane gasoline will cost 195 Syrian pounds, up from 145 pounds; diesel will be 175 pounds, up from an unspecified previous price; household gas will cost 1,600 pounds; industrial gas will cost 2,560 pounds; and heavy fuel oil will cost 52,800 pounds.
The ministry emphasized that the price adjustment is temporary and aimed at ensuring continuous supply and availability in the local market. The Syrian Petroleum Company bears responsibility for meeting market demand and securing supplies during this period.
