Record Diesel Prices Squeeze Pennsylvania Farmers' Operations

Farmers in Pennsylvania are facing a significant challenge as record diesel prices squeeze their operations. It's harvest time for wheat and corn, but the cost of diesel fuel has hit a high of nearly $6.61 per gallon this week.

The increased cost is having a severe impact on agriculture, with farm equipment that last year cost $70 to $80 an hour to run now costing about $180 to $200 an hour, according to Pennsylvania Farm Bureau President Tommy Nagle.
