Record Heat Fuels Natural Gas Price Gains in Southeast Hubs
Natural gas forward prices increased during the September 9-16 trading period due to record September heat in several regions. The hot weather kept power burn running at summer levels across the South, which in turn held storage injections below seasonal norms.
The Southeast hubs experienced a significant increase of more than 20 cents, while the Waha discount deepened by 22 cents. Additionally, power burn ran 7 Bcf/d above the 2025 level.
