Refining Giants Buck Trend as Oil Prices Soar
The ongoing tensions in the Middle East are driving up crude oil prices, with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) trading above $90 per barrel. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), WTI is expected to reach $84.65 per barrel this year, a significant increase from last year's price of $65.40.
Despite the high crude oil prices, leading refiners Par Pacific Holdings and HF Sinclair Corporation have seen substantial gains over the past six months, with their stock values increasing by 21.9% and 67.4%, respectively.
This strong performance is attributed to the global refining bottlenecks and low fuel inventories, which are driving up refining margins for these companies.
