Rising crude oil prices have sent gas prices soaring in Riverside County and across the country. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County has increased for the 11th consecutive day, rising by 3.8 cents to $5.563 on Saturday.

This marks the highest increase since February 28, when the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran sent oil prices into a tailspin. The average price of gas in Riverside County has risen 32.8 cents over the past 11 days and is now 21 cents more than one week ago and 22.3 cents more than one month ago.

The national average price also rose for the 11th consecutive day, increasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.111. According to AAA, 'Rising crude oil prices are behind the spike at the pump.' Volatility along the Strait of Hormuz and instability in the region have pushed crude oil prices into the $90 per barrel range.
