Riyadh Targeted by Ballistic Missile Fired from Yemen
Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh, was targeted by a ballistic missile fired by Yemen's Houthi rebels on Saturday. The attack was reportedly the first targeting of Riyadh since the escalation in fighting with the Tehran-backed rebels.
The Saudi government confirmed that the missile was intercepted, and there were no reports of casualties or damage. However, some residents heard an explosion, and a plume of smoke was seen near the airport.
The Houthis also claimed to have targeted 'sensitive sites' in Riyadh and facilities of Saudi oil giant Aramco in Yanbu. Aramco did not respond to a request for comment.
