Riyadh Under Attack: Houthi Strikes Hit Capital and Oil Facilities
Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh has come under attack by Yemen's Houthi movement, which announced strikes on targets in the city and coastal oil facilities. Black smoke and flames rose near King Khalid International Airport after a fuel tank caught fire at a nearby depot.
The incident occurred hours after Saudi authorities issued an overnight air raid alert, but there was no immediate response from them. Residents reported hearing what sounded like explosions echoing through the city before the alert was lifted.
The Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a statement that the group had carried out two successful military operations using ballistic and cruise missiles and drones. The first targeted sensitive sites in Riyadh, while the second hit Aramco facilities in Yanbu.
