Rubber Futures Rise Amid Stronger Demand and Global Market Gains
Natural rubber futures rose across multiple exchanges in the first week of August, buoyed by stronger physical demand and consumer interest.
The gains were supported by global equity markets and other commodity prices, including copper and precious metals like gold and silver, according to Japan Exchange Group (JPX).
In Osaka, Japan, OSE's January-2027 rubber contract settled 0.3% higher week-over-week in 'quiet trading', while Shanghai-based exchanges SHFE and INE saw their rubber futures close 2.6% and 3.3% higher, respectively.
SICOM's active October-2026 rubber contract in Singapore ended the week up 3.5% due to fresh buying interest, with some consumers paying premiums of 15-20 cents/kg over front-month SICOM rubber futures prices for September deliveries.
