Russian Airstrikes Cut Ukraine Grain Exports by 84%

In August 2026, grain shipments from Ukraine's Greater Odesa ports saw an unprecedented decline of 84% compared to July. This sharp decrease was caused by massive airstrikes from Russia on Ukrainian Black Sea ports.

According to Spike Brokers, the total volume of agricultural exports in the first week of August was 312 thousand tons, down from 784.5 thousand tons at the beginning of July. Wheat exports were particularly affected, with only 33.5 thousand tons shipped out in August compared to 294.9 thousand tons in July.

The rail grain flow to seaports has significantly reduced, while land rail crossings and truck exports are operating relatively more actively. Due to port operation restrictions, the lion's share of agro-exports is being directed via land routes.
