Rubondo Exits PAU After 42 Years Amidst Uganda's Oil Production Push

Ernest Rubondo has ended his 42-year career in Uganda's petroleum sector after leaving the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU), as the country prepares for its first oil production.

Rubondo, who served as PAU Executive Director, was honored at a farewell ceremony attended by government officials, industry executives, development partners, and former and current energy ministers.

He joined the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in 1984 as a Geological Assistant and rose through the ranks to become Director of Petroleum before taking charge of PAU.

Rubondo's tenure helped strengthen PAU's governance systems, institutional culture, and professional workforce, making it a respected petroleum regulator under his stewardship.
