Rupee Finds Breathing Room as Brent Crude Declines and RBI Intervenes
The Indian rupee has managed to find some breathing room after a sharp seven-session losing streak, strengthening slightly to around 95.73-95.76 per US dollar. The currency's recovery comes as Brent crude oil prices declined for a third consecutive session, falling more than 1.3% to around $103 a barrel.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has been actively intervening in the foreign exchange market through dollar-rupee swaps to support the currency. Market participants have reported that RBI's actions have helped stabilize the rupee and break its recent losing streak.
Despite the modest rebound, investors remain cautious about the inflation and rate outlook due to elevated bond yields. India's benchmark 10-year government bond yield is hovering around 7.05%, having recently broken past the 7% threshold due to rising global bond yields and higher crude oil prices.
