Rural LPG Refill Booking Gap Cut to 25 Days

The Indian government has reduced the minimum LPG refill booking interval for rural households to 25 days, matching the urban consumer timeline. This change is a result of improved cooking gas supplies and a significant decline in refill backlogs following the West Asia conflict disruptions.

According to Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi, the government initially introduced a 25-day refill interval in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas as a temporary demand-management measure during the crisis. However, with the current LPG supply situation improving, the central government has relaxed this restriction.

The petroleum ministry has directed state-run oil marketing companies Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation to implement the revised 25-day interval with immediate effect. The earlier differentiated booking cycle was introduced to protect household LPG supplies during the crisis.
