Russia and Iran Unveil Plan to Circumvent Sanctions Through Increased Economic Cooperation
Russia and Iran have developed a multi-year plan to deepen their economic and technological cooperation in the face of Western sanctions, according to an unpublished Russian government document obtained by Fox News.
The 'roadmap' covers the period 2024-2026 and includes measures in finance, nuclear energy, oil and gas, aviation, and transport infrastructure.
One key focus is increasing the use of national currencies in bilateral trade. The plan aims to raise the share of payments in national currencies from 68% in 2024 to 71% in 2026, with a planned expansion of correspondent bank accounts in rubles and Iranian rials.
The cooperation also extends to nuclear energy, including projects related to the Iranian nuclear power plant 'Bushcher'. Additionally, Russia plans to help organize the production in Iran of certain components and assemblies for Russian aircraft, which would be important for the Russian aviation industry after sanctions imposed due to the war in Ukraine.
