Russia Cuts Gas to Armenia Amid Diversification Plans
Russia's Gazprom Armenia has halted gas supplies to Armenia for nine days from September 15-25, citing 'scheduled maintenance and repair work in the Russian Federation.'
The move comes just three days after Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reaffirmed his intention to reduce the country's dependence on Russian natural gas imports.
Russia provided approximately 82% of Armenia's overall gas imports in 2025, and the cutoff has left officials scrambling for alternative sources.
Azerbaijan has expressed willingness to supply Armenia with significant amounts of gas, but only after the two countries finalize a provisional peace deal brokered in Washington in August 2025.
