Russia Declares State of Emergency Over Grain Export Disruptions

The Krasnodar Krai region of Russia has declared a state of emergency due to disruptions in grain exports caused by Ukrainian drone strikes on Black Sea logistics infrastructure.

The region's governor, Veniamin Kondratyev, stated that 'massive attacks' led to disruptions in shipping in the Black Sea and the shutdown of grain terminals, particularly at the key port of Novorossiysk.

A significant portion of this year's harvest remains unsold on the domestic market due to the suspension of port operations. The region harvested 11.4 million metric tons of grains and legumes in 2025, which is nearly 2 million metric tons more than in 2023.
