Russia Dominates Africa's Agricultural Market with Record Exports

Russian agricultural exports to Africa have seen significant growth in the first six months of 2026, reaching US$2.9 billion, a 35% increase from the same period last year.

The total export volume rose by 40% to over 11 million tonnes, with wheat being the main product, accounting for more than 90% of total agricultural volumes sent to Africa.

Russia's largest African market remains Egypt, taking 44% of total export volumes, with shipments increasing from 3.8 million tonnes in 2025 to 4.9 million tonnes this year.

Russian poultry meat exports to Africa also passed US$50 million in 2025, targeting countries including Benin, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Mozambique, and Guinea.
