Russia Dominates Global Wheat Trade as Top Exporter
The global wheat trade landscape is subject to fluctuations due to crop yields, climate conditions, local stocks, and global demand. According to US Department of Agriculture data, Russia leads as the top wheat exporter, followed by the European Union, Canada, Australia, and the United States.
Russia's significant production and extensive agricultural areas enable it to supply massive quantities to international markets. The country's estimated exports reached 46 million tons in the 2025/2026 season, with a projected increase to approximately 47 million tons in the 2026/2027 season.
The European Union, comprising collective countries, is also a significant force in global wheat exports. Its estimated exports were around 30.5 million tons in the 2025/2026 season, with a projected increase to 31 million tons in the 2026/2027 season.
