Russia Reimposes Wheat Export Duty as Global Grain Market Remains Volatile
Russia's Agriculture Ministry has reinstated its wheat export duty after three consecutive weeks of no levies. The new rate is RUB 5.7 per ton, effective August 8. This decision comes as the global market for grains remains sensitive to supply chain disruptions and economic pressures.
The ministry also announced changes to duties on corn and barley. The export duty on corn will be reduced from RUB 232.6 per ton to RUB 127.2 per ton, starting August 8. Meanwhile, the duty on barley will remain at zero for now. These rates were calculated using indicative prices: $229.4 per ton for wheat, down slightly from $228.4 in the previous period; $191.1 per ton for barley, up slightly from $191.0; and $230.2 per ton for corn, down from $232.2.
