Russia has dismissed the idea of a ceasefire in the Black Sea region, saying it sees no grounds for 'half-measures' that would offer Ukraine a respite.

The statement came from Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, who accused Ukraine of 'brazen acts of terrorism' against shipping in the area.

Zakharova said Russia views these attacks as a deliberate policy aimed at destabilizing civilian shipping and prolonging the conflict.

Russia has stepped up its attacks on commercial ships in recent weeks, driving world grain prices higher.
