Russia Seeks Grain Support Amid Black Sea Disruptions
Russia's government is exploring ways to support its grain producers as disruptions to shipping and logistics caused by Ukrainian drone attacks continue.
The country's Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut revealed that the ministry is considering measures such as crop procurement, preferential loan extensions, and sales subsidies to aid grain producers.
In addition, Russia is looking into alternative routes for agricultural exports due to ongoing disruptions in the Black Sea region. The Black Sea port of Novorossiysk has seen significant damage to its grain terminals, while Ukrainian shipments have been hindered by Russian strikes on port facilities in Odesa and elsewhere.
Russia and Ukraine's escalating attacks on each other's commercial ships and ports in the Black Sea area have raised concerns about global grain supplies. The two countries account for more than a quarter of global wheat exports, and this year's harvest is being impacted by these conflicts.
