Russia-Ukraine Conflict Sparks Grain Price Volatility
Markets are volatile as grain and livestock futures continue to fluctuate. December corn prices rose by $8.25 per bushel, while November soybeans gained $3.25 cents per bushel. Wheat markets saw significant increases, with December Kansas City wheat up 30.25 cents per bushel and September Chicago wheat rising by 22.5 cents per bushel.
Russia-Ukraine conflict continues to impact global grain exports, with several key ports shut down due to the ongoing war. Despite this, some traders reported unconfirmed rumors of China purchasing 7 million metric tons of U.S. soybeans.
Meanwhile, livestock futures took a hit as Tyson's announcement of plant closures and sales led to lower cattle contracts at the start of the trading day. October live cattle fell $3.43 per pound, while September feeder cattle dropped $5.48 per hundredweight.
