Russian Farmers Stuck with Unsold Grains Amid Export Freeze
Russian farmers are struggling to sell their harvested crops due to an export freeze at key ports. The suspension of grain shipments has left producers' warehouses overflowing and distribution channels blocked.
Market participants report that major ports have halted wheat and other crop exports, making it impossible for farmers to unload their goods. As a result, many are on the brink of bankruptcy.
Vyacheslav Vasilyuk, an organic farm owner in the Tambov region, says he's considering not sowing next year due to unprofitable prices: 'I'm already thinking about not sowing next year. With prices like these, sowing is unrealistic; it's just working at a loss.'
The current situation is a consequence of a complex set of problems, including fuel shortages, rising fuel prices, and Ukrainian military strikes on port infrastructure.
