Russia's Grain Exports Plummet Amid Shipping Disruptions

Russia's grain exports have plummeted in August, with only 1.4 million tons shipped during the first 20 days of the month, a stark decline from last year's 3.5 million tons.

The Russian Grain Union attributes this downturn to shipping disruptions and damage to port infrastructure in the Azov-Black Sea basin, particularly severe in the second ten days of August.

In contrast to last year's 28 countries, only eight nations received Russian wheat shipments during the second ten days of August, with Bangladesh emerging as the largest buyer at 110 thousand tons.

The contraction is also evident in Russia's export infrastructure, with fewer companies and ports involved in grain exports compared to last year.
