Russia's Port Attacks Crush Ukraine Grain Exports

Russian attacks on Ukraine's ports have severely impacted grain exports via the Black Sea. In August, export volumes decreased by approximately 75% compared to the same period last year.

In July and early August, Russian forces carried out over 70 attacks on Ukraine’s port infrastructure. Additionally, during this period, 62 strikes on vessels were recorded, according to the Ukrainian port administration.

The damage to port infrastructure has led to reduced export opportunities for Ukrainian farmers via sea. This creates additional pressure on the domestic market, where significant volumes of grain are accumulating.
