Wheat prices surged by as much as 3.1% on Tuesday, marking the biggest increase since August 28th. The jump came after weekend talks between US envoys and President Vladimir Putin of Russia failed to yield any progress in resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

CRM AgriCommodities noted that hopes for a breakthrough in peace talks were dashed, leading to continued disruptions in grain shipments from the Black Sea.

The escalation of the war has resulted in attacks on grain terminals and infrastructure used to ship wheat and corn, severely impacting exports of vital foodstuffs.
