Russia's Wheat Exports Plummet Amid Ukraine-Black Sea Port Disruptions
Russia's wheat exports have plummeted nearly fourfold to 347,000 tonnes in the second ten-day period of September compared to 1.3 million tonnes during the same period last year.
This drastic decline is largely attributed to Ukrainian attacks on Black Sea port infrastructure and vessels, according to data from the Russian Grain Union.
Shipments through major ports like Novorossiysk collapsed nearly tenfold, with only 72,500 tonnes of grain handled during this period compared to last year's 640,000 tonnes.
The number of countries purchasing Russian wheat has also dwindled from 29 to just eight, while supplies to key markets such as Egypt and Turkey have significantly decreased.
