Sabah Gas Supply Set for Near-Doubling by 2030

Sabah's gas supply is set to nearly double by 2030, according to plans unveiled recently. The state aims to increase its current gas production of 700 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) to 1,350 MMscfd through seven offshore development projects over the next four years.

The project involves international and local oil companies, including two international players and four Malaysian ones, in developing four new gas fields. This move is part of Sabah's long-term plan to meet growing energy demand from power plants and industrial sectors.

The additional gas supply will support the construction of a new power plant and enable Sabah Electricity's Batu Sapi station to switch from diesel to gas-fired turbines.
