Sabah Trade Surpasses RM100 Billion for Fourth Straight Year
Sabah's total trade in 2025 reached RM105.5 billion, marking its fourth consecutive year above the RM100 billion mark. The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) reported a 2.1% decline from the previous year, but noted that the state's trade performance demonstrates remarkable resilience despite ongoing global economic uncertainties.
Exports fell by 5.9% to RM57.7 billion, primarily due to weaker global demand for key commodities. Imports, however, rose by 2.8% to RM47.8 billion.
Crude petroleum remained Sabah's largest export at RM17.1 billion, accounting for 29.7% of total exports, followed by palm oil at RM16.8 billion. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports increased by 2.0% to RM4.6 billion.
